Wednesday, August 19 I 2:00 – 4:00 PM Location: The home of Sarah Nelson (address will be provided to those who RSVP) Come connect with fellow members and bring a friend! This laid-back summer backyard gathering is the perfect opportunity to introduce new people to our mission and purpose. We’ll soak up the sunshine, enjoy refreshments, and share meaningful conversation in great company—all in the comfort of a member’s home. To apply for a grant, please visit the Grants page on our website and read the letter from our team. Then, download and complete the grant application form. All applications must be submitted by the deadline of August 1, 2026. The application process includes a review of your project proposal by our Advisory Board and, if selected, a chance for you to present your project to our members, followed by a site visit to your organization. For more information, review the FAQ section on our Grants page. We look forward to learning more about the Kingdom building work you and your organization are doing here in Lane County!

Our Summer 2026 newsletter arrived in our members’ Our Summer 2026 newsletter arrived in our members’ mailboxes a few weeks ago, and we’re excited to now share the digital edition with our entire email community. As we prepare for a fun-filled summer, we also wanted to highlight a few upcoming opportunities for members and those wanting to learn more about Brighter Days to gather together. Inside this issue, you’ll find updates from this year’s grant recipients, who began their projects shortly after our March Celebration Lunch. We’re encouraged by the meaningful progress each of them has made and are excited to share their stories with you. We hope you enjoy reading this newsletter as much as we enjoyed putting it together. We were so happy to connect with new and familiar faces at our art gathering, and it made us that much more excited for more gatherings with our Brighter Days members and friends this summer! Follow @kim.kares for her beautifully inspired art. We learned so many great tips from this talented artist. She offers art sessions in her home to help others connect to their creative self & empowers you to share that beauty & magic with others!
Agape Families was founded in 2012 in response to Agape Families was founded in 2012 in response to the estimated 22,000 kids in Oregon that have a parent that is incarcerated. Their mission is to provide hope and stability for these kids and their families through summer camp experiences and family events, programs and training throughout the year. In 2024, Agape partnered with Thrive Housing Network, a nonprofit that owns and operates various housing programs in Eugene for women in difficult situations, to open the Agape Girls House. This newly built duplex in the Ferry Street Bridge area provides young female participants of Agape programs with housing stability, Christian discipleship & community, and practical skills training during their 18-24 month transition to independent adult life. Brighter Days Giving’s grant will enable us to cover the housing and related program costs for one Agape girl in the Agape Girls House for one year. Contact Agape info@agapefamilies.org
In 2023, CAFA launched Safe Families Plus (SF+) in In 2023, CAFA launched Safe Families Plus (SF+) in response to the alarming rise in youth homelessness in Lane County. SF+ serves youth ages 14-24 by providing a gospel-centered network of support of trusted adult mentors and temporary host families designed to prevent youth from experiencing trafficking, substance abuse, incarceration and homelessness. Recruiting these mentors and host families, however, is a challenge. The Brighter Days Giving grant is critical to advancing this church-based expansion of SF+, by funding a focused initiative to equip youth pastors, recruit new volunteers and ensure more youth are safely housed and consistently mentored within a gospel-centered support system. This grant will significantly deepen the Church’s role in prevention, restoration, and care, extending the love of Christ to the young people who need it most. REBOOT Recovery is a trauma healing ministry that REBOOT Recovery is a trauma healing ministry that provides a small group specialized curriculum for military personnel, first responders, and individuals with unaddressed trauma. It serves individuals in multiple locations across the nation and internationally. REBOOT Recovery’s vision is to become the largest peer-led response to suicide and trauma ever seen through our 12-week, faith-based, and peer-led trauma healing groups. Lane County is currently home to 3 REBOOT locations. Each location is led by a small team of volunteer leaders who are the primary evangelists and disciple makers in their group. Each leader goes through our established Leadership Academy prior to facilitating any courses, which includes outreach, evangelism, group facilitation, and discipleship. The Brighter Days Giving grant will enable us to expand our reach by adding 3 additional new course locations in Lane County, with a focus on rural, underserved populations. It will provide funding to train 12 new volunteer peer-leaders, trained to serve in their own communities, bringing ~195 additional individuals through the 12 week REBOOT trauma healing course, annually.
